It is like another member of the family, who pays the bill and does the tidying up at the end of the day.
A lot of business advice is aimed at increasing sales & profits and ultimately generating wealth for the owner. Outlining potential strategies for moving a business through the gears from a startup, getting funding, achieving growth and increasing profits. Giving you the 7 necessary steps, you need to take to achieve this!
If this a lifestyle business, where is the lifestyle that the business affords you? The vast majority fall into this trap, working 70 hours a week and taking years off their life trying to make it happen. I know, I was one of them. The fear of failure drove me to the point of no return.

So, what is a lifestyle business? It is one, where you are the only employee and your business provides for all the things you need and some of the things you want. There is a difference between what you need and what you want, but that’s a long conversation for another time. How many of these things I want that the business will provide, depends on almost every variable factor imaginable.
The objective here, is to tun your passions and skills into a sustainable business that provides. The point is that life is not about money, it is about happiness and that is most definitely a journey not a destination. With this in mind, I drive my business forward through my lifestyle choices, which puts me in a great place. A place of peace and serenity. It can do the same for you. Do you live to work or do you work to live?
Can I hear the concerns bouncing around in your head… will it work… what if it fails… is this really for me…?
How you define success will play a fundamental part in determining how you get over this hurdle, and there are so many different definitions. One size does not fit all. The more money focused you are the harder it will be, held up by risk adversion and contingency planning. Having a clear understanding of what you need vs what you want is the ideal starting point.
You will almost certainly need more confidence in yourself and your abilities than an investor whose money is burning a hole in his pocket.
If you are looking for that great work life balance and enjoyment, but with the security and freedom from being in control of your life, then a lifestyle business maybe exactly what you want.
